How to Root Asus ZenFone 2E GoPhone:

You will lose all your data and it is possible that you may brick your device
All described operations you are doing at your own risk.

First of all, backup your Asus Zenfone 2 as you can lose all of your personal data, info and accounts while gaining root access. I recommend you to save at least your contacts, call logs, text messages, internet settings, market apps, current ROM, images, videos and audio accounts. In that respect you can download free distributed backup and restore apps from Google Play or you can use a cloud storage platform.
Then, you have to use a computer on which you have to install Android SDK.

So, first learn how to install Android SDK on Windows or how to set up ADB on MAC OS X / Linux. Also, on your computer temporarily deactivate antivirus protection as security features might interfere with the root process. Other than that, on your phone gain developer rights (tap several times on built number within “menu – settings about phone”) and enable USB debugging option by accessing “menu – settings – developer options”.

I strongly recommend you to charge your Asus Zenfone 2 before going any further – if the battery level will be lower than 50%, your phone might get turned off in the middle of the unlock process and if that happens, your smartphone might get soft bricked. Also, it is important to apply all the steps from below only if you own the Asus Zenfone 2 – the pre rooted package from below has been optimized and customized only for the mentioned Android powered device.

  5. On your PC open a command prompt window – press and hold Shift keyboard key and right click for selecting “Open Command Prompt Window Here”.
  6. In the cmd window type “adb reboot bootloader”.
  7. The bootloader mode will then be displayed on your phone.
  8. Rename the system image that you have downloaded to system.img. You can do that by right-clicking on the system image and selecting Rename.
  9. Next, in the same cmd window enter the following command: “adb flash system system.img”.
  10. Wait while the root process is being completed.
  11. When done, return to the cmd window and enter “fastboot reboot”.
  12. That’s it; wait while your Asus Zenfone 2 reboots automatically.
